Second day of diving! Yesterday was a lot to cram in after being jet lagged then diving and doing Ultra, but I'm still glad I did it!
Today woke up another hour earlier to head back to Key Biscayne. This time, we dove the Princess Britney which was an old drug smuggling ship and a much larger ship than the one we dove yesterday. It's fun to imagine what they were like before they were sunk but the ocean really tears ships apart so quickly.
We were greeted by a Goliath Grouper and got to spend a good bit of time exploring the cabin of the ship. Unfortunately my camera's memory card filled up during the dive since I'm bad about actually deleting photos after importing them. There was a group of tech divers with us on the dive boat who did their own thing, even wearing dry suits (which was definitely not necessary in the 77 degree water!) and using propulsion vehicles.
The second dive was at the Belcher Barge divesite which was a series of 6 different sunken ships. We dove the Belcher Barge first, then the Belzona II (a 1900's tug boat) and then the HAV Parker III barge and the Schuger's Barge. I saw a cool Spotted Goatfish eating among the coral and then a Lionfish hiding in the barge. At Schuger's, I saw a turtle off in the distance but he was too far away to get a good photo. I got distracted on the way back and lost the rest of the team for a few minutes when they apparently saw a bull shark that I missed!
Today I had time for a quick cat nap after the dives before heading to
Ultra Day 2.
