Last day! :(
Slept in again but not as much as yesterday. They had a VIP breakfast thing which always had a long line every day... probably an hour wait or more. Many folks purchased that with their tickets which I think was a mistake because if I had paid that much money for breakfast and then had to wait in an hour line, that would have been frustrating. I went over just before they closed though and paid for a one-day pass and had a pretty good breakfast with several different breads and fresh-made scrambled eggs. The chef that was preparing the eggs pegged me as American because I asked for mine with just cheese. The food was good but I don't know that I really got my money's worth out of it.
Headed back in around 16:30. Harris and I explored some more, including going to the BMW experience building. This was pretty neat where the crowd would choose the adventure by voting for different parameters like a sunny day versus a windy day, and then when you went into the next room, they had screens on all of the walls with a nature simulator for what the crowd had voted on. We wound up getting a stormy experience in the woods, complete with high winds and lightning. Pretty neat.
Today's highlights included Sam Feldt, MATTN, Afrojack, Alesso, Vini Vici, a few minutes of James Hype, and 3 Are Legend (Steve Aoki, Dmitri Vegas, and Like Mike).
The last song of the festival was an EDM remix of Take Me Home Country Roads. I was amazed that I was on the other side of the world from home but everybody in the crowd sang along to every word of the song at the top of their lungs, to a song about West Virginia.
Had an amazing weekend! I don't know that this was my most favorite festival ever, but I definitely saw some pretty epic artists and the MainStage area and grounds were also very impressive. Camping in a tent turned out to not be as bad as I was expecting. I'm glad I brought that portable fan! Charging batteries was a challenge since I thought the lockers were supposed to have power plugs in them but they didn't. So next year, I'll definitely bring more batteries and maybe a solar panel.
Breakfast of champions!
