Dove with James today. First site was the same Anau site just outside of our hotel, but unfortunately we didn't get to see any manta rays again. We did see an octopus though, who was hiding in the coral, just enough out of his hole for us to get a good look at him. Also saw some of the spotted eagle rays, but again they were a bit too far away to get a good photo.
For the second dive, the guides took us to Haapiti which was also out in the ocean, for something different. As soon as I jumped in the water, a Threadfin Butterflyfish came right up to my mask to check me out and pose for a good photo. These fish are normally hard to photograph since they skittish, but this one was happy to see me.
Also saw a giant Pineapple Sea Cucumber crawling along the bottom which was really neat to see. This site was on the outer edge of the reef so there were several canyons almost like the gaps between then fingers of an open hand. We explored several of them until it got too narrow and then turned around. Near the end of the dive, I saw a beautiful blue clam on the bottom with its lips quivering as the water flowed by. This was my last dive of the trip and I'm going to really miss being underwater here!
