Slept in today to rest up for the first real night. Went into the mesa for food and wound up stumbling upon a latin dance class which I joined for a few minutes, despite not being able to follow the moves very well. Explored the mesa for a bit but this year, I wanted to actually attend the opening ceremony and be one of the first people into the venue.

My outfit for Friday was to dress up as a minion, but to make it unique, I added my snorkel so I could be a Scuba Minion. There was a guy on Instagram who coordinated getting over 4,000 people to dress up as minions on Friday and had several meetups throughout the venue. Every time I would see another minion, we would greet each other with a "minion!" or a "banana! banana!" exclamation. It was fun.

The opening ceremony turned out to just be a couple stages that were running starting at 5pm rather than a whole speech or something, but it was still fun to be there for the full time. I used the extra time to explore the speedway and see some artists I had never heard of before going through my set lineup for the evening with my favorite artists.

Tonight's highlights included Argy, I Hate Models, Sofi Tucker, The Chainsmokers, a couple minutes of Gareth Emery, Porter Robinson, and Charlotte de Witte. The fireworks and intermezzo presentations were incredible too!
