Myke's Photo Gallery: EDC Vegas 2026: Day 0 with the World Party Parade

We awoke Thursday morning to pickup our RV trailer from Indie Campers and then headed to camp. The pickup process took quite a while since they were very understaffed. Security was a breeze and then it took less than usual to find our campsite. Our home for the weekend was at the corner of 18th Street and Avenue M, just a couple blocks north of the Mesa and the Art camp. This year, they had a few more art installations, including several vehicles from Burning Man around the camp grounds.

New this year, for the 30th anniversary, was the World Party Parade, on the Las Vegas Boulevard strip. We got a Lyft and headed down there just after 6pm. The parade was intended to be interactive rather than just watching from the sidelines so as each art car went down the strip, there was a group of folks following along, dancing to the DJ. We attempted to stay in one spot long enough to see the whole thing before deciding which DJ to follow, but by the time we got a drink, it wrapped up with us only seeing each float once.

We started following the crowd and wound up at the downtown fairgrounds where they had set up a whole mini EDC for free! I don't know if I just wasn't paying attention enough to the announcements or if this was a surprise, but it was pretty impressive. They turned the art cars into mini stages, had drink and merch booths, and everything.

Unfortunately some of the cars were plagued by power problems where they would go completely dark and silent in the middle of a DJ playing their set. They usually reset the breakers fairly quickly and got back up and running, but a few stages were dark for an hour. At one point, we also saw the Beatbox art car start moving on its own and smash into one of the other art cars where a DJ was playing. Everything went dark on the stage a second later. Hopefully nobody was hurt!

The highlight of the evening was a band called Soul in the Machine performing with what looked like homemade instruments. They were super cool and unique!

The afterparty ended around Midnight and then we headed back to camp.
