Hard to believe it's already the last day since it seems like we were just wondering if the event was happening or not. Had an incredible 2.5 days so far and excited for the last day but already don't want it to end.
As we were getting ready to go into the festival, it was drizzling rain. And then raining harder. Harris suggested that we wait out the rain, but I really wanted to see Aaron Hibell (made famous from the song in Oppenheimer, "destroyer of worlds.") so we put on our ponchos and started the walk in. Turns out my old CNN.com rain jacket wasn't really waterproof anymore so I got soaking wet, but it was still worth it. Aaron was playing at the Atmosphere stage which was indoors anyway so we made our way there. The rest of the crew stayed for a few minutes and then did their own sidequest while I enjoyed the set.
When it was over, the rain had stopped (for now). The rest of the night was spent at the MainStage, seeing Maddix, Sub Focus (who was much better this set), Solomun (who doesn't know how to smile), Lost Frequencies (a regular favorite), Fisher (famous for Losing It), and David Guetta (a legend).
We took a sidequest break to get me a chocolate covered Belgian waffle shaped like the Tomorrowland logo. It had a long wait, but it was well worth it. I was stil hungry so I tried "cheese croquettes" which were kinda like fried mozarella balls, but with fancier cheese. They were delicious!
It started raining again during Fisher's set, so we put back on the ponchos and danced in the rain. The crowd was incredible all night, never letting the rain or the burned-down stage dampen our spirits. You don't really know what you've lost until it's gone, and the shell of the original MainStage was a constant reminder of that all weekend. I think it made everyone cherish each and every moment that we still got to spend together, and push ourselves just a little bit more to appreciate what we still had.
David Guetta was a great choice to end the festival with. We were tempted to see Steve Aoki over at the Library, but I'm glad we all stayed at main with David. We danced and sang along to each song, with him providing a blend of the classics and new favorites.
All of these festivals are over way too quickly. I'm always eager to keep dancing and staying up late. This weekend was no exception to that, but I also ended Sunday night with an incredible high that we were still able to attend the festival after traveling half-way across the world. It was great getting to spend time with my friend Brennan, who first introduced me to Armin van Buuren's music over 11 years prior. Live today, love tomorrow, unite forever.
