Day two...let's go! Woke up a little earlier today, got my traditional chocolate croissant in Dreamville, and then headed into the festival to see Charlotte de Witte performing a "Daybreak" set on the MainStage. She started just after Noon and I arrived at 13:40 to see the last half-hour. "Early" morning sets hit different than the ones late in the evening so this one had a balance of being a little chill with the excitement that comes with Charlotte de Witte. After her set was over, I wondered into the venue to find food and stumbled upon a young DJ performing at the Rise by Coca-cola stage. He was dropping beats and throwing up his hands to get the crowd pumped up. Later found out that he was only 14 years old and his mom was hiding behind the stage to cheer him on. Also discovered Nico Parisi at The Rose Garden stage with the giant dragon, then spent a few minutes watching Milinguap at Elixir.
My must-see set of the day was the Symphony of Unity at the Freedom stage so I arrived a few minutes early to get a good spot. We got a spot on the third floor, but couldn't get right up to the railing because it was too crowded. When the people in front of me realized that I had left to get a drink for my friend, they poluitely let me stand in front of them so I could get a better view. The Symphony was amazing as ever, playing famous EDM songs but with violins, cellos, and other symphony instruments. After the show ended, I finally got a spot on the railing so I stayed for a bit of Mahmut Orhan, who was playing next.
We all had tickets to see the Avicii Forever tribute so we headed over there next. They had set up some 360 screens in a building constructed with shipping containers. The show was about 10 minutes and the whole crowd sang along to every one of his songs. We all collectively teared up as we sang "he said one day you'll leave this world behind so live a life you will remember."
The rest of the evening was spent racing around the festival grounds to catch a few minutes of Agents of Time at Freedom, James Hype at Crystal Garden, and Lost Frequencies at the Library. The other must-see set of the weekend was Armin van Buuren, back at the Freedom stage. I made sure to get right up front and center, no more than 10 people from the front rail in a very crowded room. Brennan and Jared were on the other side and with how packed it was, we didn't wind up meeting up, but I danced and sang along to each of Armin's songs while sharing moments with the strangers around me. We all walked back to camp together, in a euphoric state after all of the excitement of the second day.
