We did our best to stay optimistic as we boarded the train in Amsterdam, headed to Brussels. Met a few other people who were also traveling to Tomorrowland and Brennan even happened to be sitting next to some people from his hometown in LA. Once we got off the train, the Tomorrowland crew made sure we felt welcome and even had a marching band right outside of the station. We picked up our Global Journey gift bags and hopped on the bus for the hour long ride to Boom.
Check-in was incredibly easy this year since we had a Supreme Easy Tent package. We scanned our wristbands, got our bags lightly searched, and then had someone show us to our tent. The tent was already pitched and the cots were made up so all we had to do was drop our stuff and then head into the main Dreamville area. Got some food and then hung out at The Gathering stage for the rest of the evening. We arrived part-way through Odymel's set, then stayed for Amber Broos b2b MANDY. The next three sets were TBA on the schedule but they announced them one-by-one: Oliver Heldens, then R3HAB, then Sub Zero Project. Sub Zero wasn't really my type of music, so we checked out the second, smaller gathering stage for a few then walked around Dreamville some more. Headed back to our tent just as the gathering was wrapping up.
By this point, Tomorowland had confirmed that they would be opening tomorrow but they still weren't sure exactly how. In classic project management style, they offered two options -- 1.) open fully to everyone but a couple hours later with a rebuilt MainStage, 2.) use The Gathering stage as a new MainStage only for campers and open the rest of the festival to the non-campers. Since many of my desired sets weren't on main on Friday, the second option was obviously not ideal. We'd find out what would await us in the morning...
