Slept in to save my energy then walked around the Mesa for a bit. Headed into the speedway before sunset, around 18:30 and walked in to see Daniel Allan performing. Walked around to get the lay of the land and saw a bunch of staff dressed up in neon-colored cowboy/cowgirl outfits.
First big set of the night was the legend Paul Oakenfeld at quantumVALLEY. There was a new stage called Ubuntu, dedicated to up and coming artists, especially "Afro house music" and DJs from South Africa, so I swung by there for a little bit too. Went back to Quantum Valley to see Vini Vici and met up with my friend Lara.
As Harris and I were walking around, we noticed stansions and some people lined up for a building that just had a small sign that said "Electric Company" so we decided to check it out. Inside, they had plasma globes (originally invented by Nikola Tesla) throwing sparks, set to music, which was pretty cool. Sometimes you gotta go off the beaten path and the music schedule to find the unique experiences.
Probably one of the highlights of the evening was seeing a new artist called Zevy at the YeEDC! stage. Harris had discovered him while searching for the artists that were attending we hadn't heard of. He had a mix of country and EDM, but with his own flare where he'd start playing the guitar or signing along to the songs. It was a small stage but the whole crowd had a great time. They shut him down at 4am but the crowd didn't want it to end so he finished his song without the microphone and then jumped down out of the booth and chatted with the crowd. He was so excited to have a crowd and pulled out his phone to tell us all to follow him on Instagram. It was a neat moment compared to the big DJs who you'd never have a chance to meet in person.
Ended the night with NGHTMRE back at cosmicMEADOW as the sun rose over the speedway.
