This was my first time at EDC Orlando and I decided to do this one mostly solo. My normal Rave Buddy, Harris, had a whole group that he was already going with and I figured it would be good for me to explore by myself rather than being at the whim of a group who all wanted to do different things. And it was actually a lot of fun going solo! I did see Harris and another friend, Conrad, briefly, but I was able to see all of the artists that I wanted to (minus conflicts), get food when I wanted, and explore what I wanted to.
Arrived on Friday just before 3pm after brunch at
First Watch. EDCO is quite different from Vegas in that it only goes until Midnight versus sunset to sunrise, so I wanted to maximize my time there. I got to explore a little bit before settling in to see Lost Frequencies, Diplo, Timmy Trumpet, a few minutes of Vintage Culture, Kaskade B2B Alison Wonderland, and Zedds Dead.
On Saturday, I got there a little later but in time to see most of Eric Prydz. I then wondered by Stereo Bloom and saw two new artists that I had never heard of before -- Ahmed Spins B2B with Jaden Thompson. They were great! Went back to Kinetic Field for Dmitri Vegas B2B Steve Aoki, then stayed for Dillon Francis B2B Disco Lines, and closed out the night with Tiësto.
Sunday, woke up a bit earlier and walked to breakfast at
Hash House A Go Go, then played
miniature golf by myself before heading into the festival. Saw Maddix at Kinetic Field then caught part of the sunset sets for Alesso and Vini Vici. Stayed at Stereo Bloom for several sets in a row including Vini Vici, Giuseppe Ottaviani, Cosmic Gate, and Gareth Emery. Closed out the festival with John Summit at the main stage.
As always, EDC is a whirlwind of a weekend, jumping from one artist to another and it just seems like it goes by so fast. I've started actually writing down who I've seen and taking at least a little video clip of each artist to remember by. Can't wait to get to EDC Vegas next May and do it all over again!
