It was a cold, dark, and rainy night in November. I was driving home after seeing 8 mile with my friend, Ben, and just filling the car up with gas. Along Monroe Dr, just by the Red Cross, I hit a patch of pavement that was a different surface than the rest. The Explorer started to spin and headed for a telephone pole...I was fortunately able to avoid hitting that, but hit an embankment instead and rolled the car over on it's side...Here's a detailed diagram of exactly how it all played out. In the end, I'm still alive and was able to drive away, but it is not an experience that I would recommend to others. Shout-out and thanks to Ben, again, for helping me through it.

This is the section of Monroe Dr in ATL where it happened...notice the sharp curve. Try to imagine it being 1am and drizzling.

Hey, look! That car doesn't have any tires!

The un-annotated version of the accident scene. On the right is where I was, hit the patch of road that was slippery...spun the car around heading for the telephone pole on the left, which I fortunately avoided, but I hit the embankment behind it and flipped the car over on it's side, facing the opposite direction.

What it felt like going around the curve.

This is where I wound up, facing the opposite direction I was originally headed in.

The back right of the Explorer is the most damaged.

The scratches are from the ground and big rocks that I slid over.

There used to be pretty silver trim around the tires...that came off.

The stepbar was also messed up.

Where the side mirror USED to be.

Also notice that I'm using the spare tire...the original tire came off it's rim

Wide shot of the back right of the Explorer

I had the windows down, so the inside of the car is now filled with dirt

The windshield is cracked, too

Another shot of the side

Poor Explorer :-(

Big dent.

Door frame is slightly bent, too.
